Award Ceremony: IVTC graduates 29th, 30th, and 31st batches of trainees
On the instructions of the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Mme EBELLE Suzanne Bernadette, on May 29, 2009 presided at the diploma award ceremony for the 29th,30th and 31st batches of former trainees of IVTC Buea.
The Secretary General, who was accompanied to the diploma award ceremony by the Governor of the South West Region, was welcomed on arrival at the premises of the training centre by the chief of centre Mme Effoe Limunga Becky, staff of the centre as well as the laureates. A total of four speeches were read. The first was presented by the Mayor of Buea, who heartily welcomed the Secretary General of MINEFOP and her entourage to the Buea municipality. His speech was followed by that of the representative of the Laureates who suggested to MINEFOP to encourage auto employment by making it possible for ex-trainees of IVTC to benefit from PIAASI funds. The chief of centre on her part explained that IVTC has already graduated about 1500 trainees,80% of whom have already been employed. She lauded the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training’s effort in curbing youth unemployment, citing as palpable example the provision of a multi-media centre at IVTC Buea. She equally thanked partners like ANTIC, the Buea council and the Brasseries du Cameroun who have been of enormous assistance to her training centre.
The representative of the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, congratulated the trainers and trainees for displaying a very high sense of professionalism and responsibility to attain their goals. She expressed optimism that the trainees are adequately equipped with the necessary knowledge that will enable them squarely face challenges of the job market. She thus urged each of them to exhibit their competence wherever they will be called upon to serve. The Secretary General reiterated that government will continue to support all efforts geared towards the professional insertion of qualified youths.
Prize Award.
Thirty one(31) laureates who excelled in various domains during their training received special prizes donated by IVTC and some partner enterprises. In all, seventy(70) ex-trainees graduated, receiving diplomas in the following specialties; Computer Maintenance, Office Secretaries and Accounts clerks. The graduation ceremony was watched by a cross-section of administrative, military and traditional authorities. Group photographs crowned the occasion. In a working session, the Secretary General called for a synergy of actions between training centres and MIEFOP so as to attain assigned objectives. Concerning the referral for professional training,she indicated that this will be elaborated in partnership between trainers and professionals, adding that the implantation phase of the referrals is at its final phase. As concerns the profiles of teachers in SAR/SMs, the SG explained that the posting of training personnel to various Ministries is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. MINEFOP has constantly proposed to government to send teachers of technical education to SAR/SMs. Hopefully after the on-going recruitment enough teachers will be sent. Despite all, much is being done in the domain of decentralization and international cooperation so that SAR/SMs will be well equipped to fulfill assigned missions. The working session ended at 3pm with the departure of the Secretary General. |
